Body Systems
Project Description: In order to learn about the human body systems, we made models to show their functions. Each group chose two body systems from the list below. We modeled both of their individual functions and how they worked together. The 10 body sytems are excretory, immune/lymphatic, endocrine, digestive, respiratory, muscular, skeletal, reproductive, circulatory, and nervous.
We chose the muscular and nervous systems.
-- We modeled the cardiac muscle in the heart and the smooth muscles in veins to show the muscular system's individual function.
-- We modeled the hypothalamus tracking the temperature of the body to tell you whether you're too hot or cold. This shows the nervous system's individual function.
-- To show how the two systems interact, we modeled the brain sending messages to the arm to make the muscles expand and contract.
After researching our systems and becoming familiar with them, we made a proposal to outline the plan. It includes a description and drawing of the model, the functions the model will perfom, a materials list, a construction plan, unresolved issues or questions, and special requirements or requests. It's attached below, third attachment down, if you'd like to see it for yourself!
Watch the video below to see our model! I also attached our presentation if you'd like to learn more about the systems.
