A few friends and I restarted the Interact Club at San Marin High School this year, and I am the president. This experience has shaped me as a person and a member of the community. Service not only betters the community; it empowers those who serve. We have had a number of service opportunities this semester and have some exciting events planned for next semester....
- We raised over $1000 for the club through an auction of services at the Rotary.
- We provide after school tutoring for students in AVID.
- We had a speaker from Be2Live, who organizes trips to Mexico. I went during spring break last year, and that's actually where I found out about Interact Club in the first place.
- We're working with the boys Varsity basketball team to do a 3 point challenge to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. People can pledge to donate for every 3 point shot made by the San Marin Varsity basketball team or make a one-time donation on this website (linked). This is part of our efforts for a local event called the Novato Relay for Life.
- We are planning to visit a retirement home around Valentines Day and decorate cookies with them.
- We are planning to send volunteers to pick up trash every first Saturday of the month with a group from Rotary.
- We provided a couple of volunteers to man the arts and crafts table at the Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony.
- One of our members spent a day helping a group from Rotary to finish the shed at Morning Star Farms for the use of Hooves for Harmony.
